When the BlackDog connects to a host PC via the USB port, a new USB network interface becomes available on the host. The BlackDog communicates through this interface to the host using TCP/IP.
Assignment of the BlackDog IP address is as follows:
Note: IP addresses for the BlackDog/host networking are dynamic, so they should be used sparingly in scripts and configuration files.
To obtain the BlackDog IP address:
Applications running on the BlackDog should use the predefined host name of host, rather than the IP address, to initiate a connection to the host system.
The TCP/IP network between the BlackDog and the host only permits the BlackDog to communicate with the host. Other systems in the network are not allowed to establish a network connection directly to the BlackDog (that is, the BlackDog should initiate all network connections). In order to enable the BlackDog to access other systems besides the host, you may need to perform additional configuration (depending on the host platform).
