Login Reference Application

The Login application is a PAM-enabled (Pluggable Authentication Module) utility that enables a user to initiate provisioning and log in to a BlackDog device. You can customize the BlackDog login experience, causing the BlackDog to do such things as:

The login application uses Glade to launch an X application on the host PC. This application is stored in /usr/src/login-screen-1.0 of the SDK.

By default, only the fingerprint authentication portion of the login sequence is enabled for BlackDog; optionally, you can enable the username and password tokens using PAM configuration.

Changing the Authentication Sequence explains how to modify the authentication sequence, and the types of tokens and PAM modules required for successful login.

Screen Components

Note: By default, this part of the login set is not seen. You can enable it using the PAM utility.

The login screen has three panes (the tabs for the panes are hidden):

The Login window is divided into nine areas. The login dialog (shown below) uses the center area.

Login Application Syntax

Usage

/opt/realm/bin/login_screen [OPTION]

Options

- d (--debug)

Enable debugging options.

-m (--max-retries) <number>

Specifies the maximum number of login attempts allowed.

-p (--provision)

Use the PAM provisioning module.

-u (--user) <login>

Specify the user login as <login>.

 

Trainer Application Syntax

Usage

/usr/bin/trainer [OPTION]

Options

-h (--help)

Describe the options.

-u (--user) <login>

Specify the user being trained.
