Working with Boot Scripts

Though the BlackDog uses a System V type initialization, the initialization process includes only one run level ("running"). A number of scripts in /etc/init.d, symbolically linked to /etc/rcS.d and /etc/rc2.d, determine the sequence of events in the BlackDog boot process.

You can use the update-rc.d command to automate the process of setting up symbolic links in /etc/rcX.d.

For more information on the update-rc.d command (including examples), please see the update-rc.d man page. Run the following command from anywhere in the BlackDog SDK:

man update-rc.d
