Installing the SDK

This section explains how to install the SDK on Linux and Windows development machines.

LInux System

Perform the following steps to install the development environment on a Linux operating system:

  1. Mount the SDK DVD image to a location on your filesystem. For example:

    mount /dev/cdrom -t iso9660 /mnt/cdrom

  2. Change directories to the DVD mountpoint.
  3. Run the Blackdog-SDK installer:

    bash ./blackdog-sdk-linux.sh

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. After the installation is complete, unmount the DVD from your filesystem.
  6. To launch the SDK online documentation, navigate to the /doc directory and click on the index.htm file. The Introduction page displays. To navigate the SDK documentation, click the Developer's guide or Third-party documentation links in the left pane to display the Table of Contents.
  7. Refer to Host-Specific Configuration Notes to perform Linux host configuration required for the SDK.

Windows System

Perform the following steps to install the development environment on a Windows XP operating system:

  1. Run the automated InstallShield program by double-clicking on the setup.exe program.
  2. Follow the prompts to install the SDK.
  3. To access the SDK documentation after installing the SDK, launch the Start menu > All Programs > BlackDog Software Developer Kit > BlackDog Software Developer Kit Documentation. You can also access the latest documentation online by launching the Start menu > All Programs > BlackDog Software Developer Kit > BlackDog Software Developer Kit on the Web. To navigate the SDK documentation, click the Developer's guide or Third-party documentation links in the left pane to display the Table of Contents.
  4. Refer to Host-Specific Configuration Notes to perform Windows host configuration required for the SDK.
